Evan Klein of Barrier Brewing Co. will be at Bellport Beer for a tasting of 5 new beers from his brand new Oceanside, NY brewery. The usual chaos and party surrounding any visiting brewer will likely occur as Bellport Dave likes to marinate wings, ribs and hot dogs in the visiting brewer's beers.

Formerly of Sixpoint Brewing Co, Evan Klein has gone out on his own with an interesting vision of establishing a local and regional brewery.

Barrier Brewing's first appearance was at the Bellport Charity Tasting for Camp Paquatuck as it took place within days of his brewery becoming an official NY State micro-brewery.

I would encourage the local BA's to come out and support this tasting as Barrier makes very good beers worth drinking in large capacities. It's also fun to see another beer lover living the dream of going pro with his own brand and style.

The Barrier Beer styles and names to be tasted: GreenRoom Pale Ale, Ruthless IPA, Barrier Belgian1, Lights Out Stout, Beech St. Wheat, & Bulkhead Red.

The Out Of Towners Are Back!

For all of you who have been busting my chops about the "Out Of Towner" 6 packs, well, I guess I deserve it! It has been a while, and because of that, I have made four different ones for this upcoming weekend!
Get it? Four for the fourth?! Yeah, I know, lame....but what the hell. It's something.
Anyway, here is the story. I have had a few good folk, my "beer travelers" as I call them, bring me home some great stuff in the past few weeks. A lot of stuff. So much stuff I can't possibly drink it all, and also so much that I need to get it out of my way!
What I have available are four different 6 packs, and you have to ask for the number of the one you want, as we don't have the shelf or counter space to put them out. Just come in and ask for "out of towner # _ please.

Time To Go Back To Eight Taps...Too Damn Hot!

It's blazing out there! So, that means it is now impossible to keep those extra 5 or 6 kegs cold in that big black tub! So we have kicked kegs and not bothered to tap new stuff.
We are back to a manageable 8 taps for the summer.

We did an unprecedented thing this past week. On the eve of the 22nd we kicked the Long Trail Double IPA, we proceeded to tap another Long Trail Double IPA, something we never do is repeat a keg! But it went so fast, and we had no reasonably priced IPA to go next, so we did. Well, guess what? That one lasted less than a full 6 days! So knowing that a lot of you love it, I tapped a third in a row! I doubt we will ever do that again....Next IPA up will be Greenport Harbor Disorient IPA!

The weather is getting warmer, and that means it is time to reign in the extra beers on tap. This means that for every two beers that kick, only one will be replaced until we get back down to eight tap lines again. Of course we will roll out the extra taps for special events and tastings!

The "Beero of the week"

I am really starting to like this Beero of the week thing! It's fun for me, and I guess it's fun for the "Beero's" as well!
This week we have Co-Beero's!
Phil P. and Lee H. from Orange County! Not not the one in Cali, the one in upstate NY.
These guys did a trip of over 250 miles round trip to come see us! How cool is that?!
Rich and I had a nice time chatting with these two enthusiastic beer guys. We traded a couple of stories, sampled a couple of beers, and of course talked at length about one of our favorite topics....You guessed it! BEER!
As always, we enjoyed having a couple of guys in who really enjoy good beer and like to talk about it. I'll say it again, Beer folks are good folks!
