This Saturday June 15th, Blue Point Brewing will be serving up some of their finest for the faithful! The regular line-up is expected, as well as whatever they have available in Growlers.
There will also be a couple of beers on tap, we will get back to that later. I have to talk to Mark first. There will be at least 1 tap of something that is tough to find, new, or just unusual.
Stop by for a sample or two, pick up some suds, and to chat with the rep & fellow beer enthusiasts. It's always a good time at a Bellport Cold Beer & Soda tasting!

We kicked 2 more kegs this week! First was the Sixpoint Brownstone ale. I was not sure what to put on next, but as I was thinking about it, Dan Woody, from the LIBME http://groups.google.com/group/beermalt?hl=en called to find out what was on tap. I let him choose, and his choice was a good one! Sixpoints 8 Days O' Wheat http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/10607/39928 is now on tap! Then, just before closing tonight, we kicked the Captain Lawrence Smoked Porter. In the morning I will be tapping something new, look for a blog entry before noon.

Wednesday Nights Ramstein Dinner at Deks

I was unable to attend this Dinner, so I had Rich, my right hand man, leave work early and attend for us. As always, Rich gives us an excellent review of the evening. This is his review pulled from the LIMBE site. http://groups.google.com/group/beermalt/browse_thread/thread/64b5aeeba1aace67?hl=en#

Last night's beer dinner at Dek's was a special occasion marked with
the prescience of Greg Zaccardi from Ramstein and his German-style
beers paired with Dean/Kevin's formidable array of food. As I arrived
with the serving of the first course of spring rolls paired with the
Goose Island Matilda and was warmly greeted by other regulars to this
type of dinner, I noted other beer luminaries such as Ryan from
Manhattan Distributing, Spence-the brew master of Southampton Publick
Ale House, Andy Calimano (producer of the Nassau/Jamesport beer
shows), and Mark from Big Z (Huntington-area beer store). I also noted
our LIBME ranks were well represented by Wes+Deb and Thomas at the
other end of the table while I sat with Skip and his family.

With the beginning of each Ramstein-paired course, Greg Zaccardi
delivered an interesting discourse about the beer served, its history,
and how his brewery produces it. He even brought little ziploc
sandwich bags of malts and hops for everyone to see, smell, and feel,
which brought the diners into the story, regardless of their beer
knowledge. To further invigorate the diners and luminaries, the
Ramstein beers were served on tap in healthy pitchers as the food was
served family style on generous plates.

As the memory of last night's dinner will soon fade into my history, I
thought that illuminating the course line up would brighten the story:

1. Spring Rolls with hoisin sauce w/ Goose Island Matilda
2. Potato salad (no mayo, cheese instead) with shrimp w/ Ramstein Mai
Bock
3. Braised boneless short ribs w/ Ramstein Dunkel Hefewiesen
4. Chinese style stir-fry with turkey w/ Ramstein Hefewiesen
5. Ambrosia fruit over cake w/ Ramstein Imperial Hefewiesen

With the selections clearly and carefully thought out, my favorite was
the boneless ribs with the Dunkel Hefe'. With so many brewers making
high quality wheat beers such as Troegs, Legacy, and Money Pig, a
great Dunkel in the mix really went far with me.

With close of the evening, I noted there were at least 25 diners and
my only regret was that the number wasn't 50 or more for it's not
every night that one has a talented brew master on hand to talk about
his or her beers in such a bright and efficient manner. What added
even more emphasis was that there was another talented and respected
brew master (Spence) as just another face in the crowd.

In the future, I hope that we can get the word out to everyone earlier
about the Dek's beer dinners as an outstanding value for dinner and
drinks is unrivaled anywhere on Long Island at $35+/per person.

A Deks Beer Dinner

Just a call out to let you all know that Deks is having a beer dinner.

On Wednesday, May 21st, at 7 PM, Greg Zaccardi, President and Brewmaster of Ramstein Brewing / High Point Wheat Beer Co. will be in attendance for a 5 course beer dinner at Dek's Restaurant in Rocky Point. He will speaking about the 4 beers on draft, the Blonde (Hefeweiss), the Classic (Dunkleweiss), the Maibock and the Double Platinum (Imperial Hefe), as well as handing out gifts from the. brewery. This brewery was ranked the 7th best in the country last year by BeerAdvocate magazine, now come see why! We're Moving Stuff Around

Check out the new display of 750's & 22's right in front of you when you walk in the door. If some of your favorites are not where you are used to, just ask us. For the most part, we know where we put everything....

I am way behind on updating you folks on the new stuff. I will be getting you a complete list tomorrow. This note is just to prep you, by telling you that all of the spring beers, and most of the Summer beers are in.
For those of you who enjoyed the Sierra Nevada ESB (Early Spring Beer) there will be an excellent special coming up this week, as well as a "Clear The Shelves" special on many seasonals, as we have grown the selection so much over the past year, that I don't have enough space for everything!
If you dig Octoberfests and other fall seasonals, Winters, Barleywines and Spring beers, keep your eye on the blog!
Look for the next "New Stuff" entry for new stuff from Dogfish Head, Sierra, Troegs, Southern Tier, Anchor, and many others, including some new 750ml & 22oz. offerings. Also a couple of limited, blog reader only beers.

The Slyfox O'Riellys Stout has been replaced by the Legacy Euphoria! Get it while it lasts! A lot of you have been waiting for this to be back.
The Sixpoint Apollo Wheat has been replaced by the Sixpoint Brownstone Ale, the most frequently tapped beer at Bellport Cold Beer & Soda! You guys keep asking for it, and I love it too.

Ok. I've heard you. I know I have fallen a little behind on the updates. I will take care of that over the next couple of days.
I do have a question for you. I have been putting mostly funky, tough to find stuff on tap, who would like to see an occasional "regular" micro on tap? Maybe a Brooklyn or Blue point, at a growler deal price, say 7.99 fills? Blue Point Toasted Lager, Blueberry, or Hoptical, or Brooklyn IPA, Pennant, or Lager etc.......

Hedonism Ale

Wickedly tasty red ale packed with a full aroma from dry hopping and a massive hop flavor. Specially brewed with all European malts and West Coast whole flower hops. The result is a rich ruby red color; lacy collar and a feast of hop aroma and flavor.

Midnight Wit

Midnight Wit is a Belgian-style white ale with a medium body and spicy, citrus overtones. The texture is silky, creamy, and refreshingly delightful. Our Brewmaster learned the art of brewing tantalizing and award-winning white beers during his time in Belgium and this beer shows it.

A Weekend For New Growler Selections!!!

Saturday was a good day for those of us who like to try new stuff on tap. The Sixpoint Sweet Action cream Ale and the Captain Lawrence Reserve Imperial IPA were both kicked, and have been replaced.
The new line up, as of this morning, is as follows....

The Brooklyn is about finished, and will be replaced by one of our favorites, Captain Lawrence Smoked Porter!

Left Hand Tasting Cancelled

I'm sorry for not getting this info to you earlier, but Chris from Left Hand Brewing had his flight changed, and will not be able to do the tasting we had scheduled. He hopes to be able to make it up to us sometime in the near future.
The next tasting will be Legacy Brewing, on Saturday May 10th.
Look for upcoming tastings from Blue Point, Dogfish Head, Butternuts, Sixpoint, Hebrew, amongst others.
