The Bobbique Slyfox Beer Dinner 2/26
This past Tuesday was the Slyfox beer dinner at Bobbique in Patchogue. The beer dinners there are always a good time with good food, good beer, and good company. This time was no exception.
The SlyFox Brewer, Tim Ohst was there to explain the pairings as well as some tidbits about the brewing process. He did an excellent job as a speaker, and an even better job pairing the dinner for us.
For the first time (I think) at the beer dinners here, they held a couple of free raffles. Tickets to the Spring Craft Beer Festival www.SpringCraftBeerFestival.com and Bottles of Slyfox www.slyfoxbeer.com were given as prizes.
This was the Menu.........along with my comments...
Cocktail 1/2 Hour
Assorted Finger foods
Saison Vos
I discovered that This beer goes well with many different foods
5 Course Dinner
--Pulled Pork Spring Roll with Creamy coleslaw
Phoenix Pale Ale
Medium bodied, light hop, held up well to the shrimp
--Crispy Fried Shrimp over Cheddar Cheese Grits
Incubus Draft (Tripel Abbot Style)
This went together so well that I even ate the grits! I hate grits!
--Loaded Brisket Chili With Homemade Cornbread
Route 113 IPA
Strong hop presence, nice flavor, stood up to the chili, without overpowering it.
--St. Louis Ribs & Smoked Beef Rib Duo with Red Bliss Potato salad
Rauchbier
Both the food & the beer were smokey & delicious!
--Fallen Chocolate Souffle
O'Reilly's Stout
Yum! two of my favorite things! Chocolate & Beer!
The souffle was excellent, so good that I cleaned the plate with my finger. The beer was top-notch as well. Lighter in flavor than I thought it would be, very creamy & roasty.
