Opinions wanted....

Just a few things for the coming year that I would like to ask your opinions on.......

Should I put prices on all of the shelves? I don't do it because I am constantly moving stuff around, as well as getting new items in, so it is a pain. But then again, you are the guys who shop here, so I value your input.

Should I put a blog entry once a week announcing new stuff & seasonals?

When I change my schedule (not store hours, but my work hours) Should I post an entry about that?

Are you interested in me finding discounts for you guys from other local merchants & restaurants? They would be just for my Blog subscribers/readers. ( i.e. purchase a 25.00 discount coupon for Meritage Restaurant for $10.00 through me)

What can I do to improve my store, your shopping experience, or layout of my store.

All opinions are welcomed and appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave

You don't need to put prices on the shelves. I don't really care exactly how much everything costs. I know no matter what I grab, it isn't going to break the bank.

Updating your hours is a good idea. No offense to anyone else, but, personally, I like to make sure I go there when you are going to be there.

      Thanks Garret!
I take that as a compliment. I often try to figure out how to balance my Family/Work schedule best, so I don't miss visits from some of my favorite Customers/Friends/Beerfolk. I think it is impossible, but posting my hours makes it more likely that I can be there for you guys.

Hey Dave, I would like to hear about any specials like the one for Meritage. How was the Sam Adams Hallertau Pilsner? The 120 was awesome, I'm going to see if I can find that up here and age a few bottles

Happy New Year! Se ya' next trip down to see my sister Kath

    Dave -

I agree with Garret on the prices. I do not look at them. Blog posts are cool, I will make a stop if something rare is around. It is nice to see you, but life is not about schedules. I think it is an added bonus if I catch you there. I like the store as it is. I love the mixed six section (as you know) and would hope that it remains. Otherwise, I am a happy customer of your establishment.

    Hi Dave,
Excellent suggestions and reflections from you. It's not often one finds a shop owner who lives and loves their product; you know beer and beer drinkers, and that is what makes Bellport worth the trip.
I often come to the store to pick up a specific growler (from blog listing) and some other beer(s) that strike my interest as I browse and wait for my growler to "foam-down". Sometimes money's tight and the price of a beer would be good to know. Understanding that the beers move around a lot, would it be possible to do a black-or whiteboard with at least some of the sixes/bottles listed? Can be a pain to maintain...alt. idea would be to get a price gun and sticker the sixes individually. See ya soon to smoke some porter.

I'm not worried about pricing unless you are running a special.. Knowing when you work is cool, but doesn't stop when I come in..

    Hey Dave
Love the Blog and all the updates. If you are looking for suggestions, one thought may be to give people more flexibility for sizes with Growlers-- instead of 64 ounces only, would it ever make sense to have 32 ounce or 48 ounce or similar? For me at least, sometimes the 64 makes sense, but a 32or 48 ouncer allows me to try more without letting it go flat if I only want a few pints that night... just a thought

      Scott,
I am awaiting a quote/availability of a 32 oz as you read this!
Thanks for the comments and ideas!

How about a frequent growler card you punch out, like a buy x number of growlers and get a regular priced growler free. This could also make up for the 3-5 oz. the growlers come up short do to foaming restraints. note: Final sentence said in jest

If I ever get the service guy to show up, I plan on making preferred customer cards, as well as a 100/150/200/250/300 beer club, mahogany plaque and all.
By the way, thanks for the levity. It's been a crappy day, the laugh felt good. My father in law had a stroke, he's OK, but we get all the news tomorrow.
      On a lighter note.....
      Captain Lawrence 750's ! Yes!
      Thanks Mike!

I really appreciate when prices are marked on the beer because I do try new stuff all the time . I have no idea if you sell single 12 ounces of the craft beer so I like to know before I have to pay 12 bucks for a six pack . I've only been to your place once because its a 25 minute ride, but I'd like to get out there more. You really know your stuff . Cheers

I am hoping to get to the shelve pricing sometime in the next month or so. It's been about 50/50 as far as who likes pricing, and who doesn't care. That's enough feedback for me to get it done.
As far as craft singles, I have the mix & match rack. If there is something that you want to try, but don't see it on the singles rack, just ask. I always change up the selection on those shelves, and one of the ways a new beer gets there is by a customer request. The general rule is this....If it is an interesting craft/import beer, and is not over $15.00 a 6pk or $10.00 a 4pk, odds are good that I'll split it up for you. All you have to do is ask, I probably OK 75% of those requests.
